What is a visa

Visa Basics

What is a Visa?

A visa is an official document issued by a country's government that allows individuals to enter, stay, or transit through its territory for a specific purpose and duration.

It serves as permission for foreign nationals and sets clear conditions during the period of stay.

Who Needs an Indonesia Visa?

To determine who needs an Indonesia visa, it is important to consider nationality and purpose of visit.

Visa-Free Countries

Citizens of certain countries are exempt from obtaining a visa for a limited period. Example: ASEAN member countries can stay up to 30 days.

Visa-on-Arrival

Some countries are eligible to obtain a visa on arrival for up to 30 days, extendable once for another 30 days.

Work Visa (KITAS)

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from foreigners planning to visit or stay in Indonesia.

InvestinAsia handles all major Indonesia visa and permit types: Business Visa (IDR 8,500,000), Tourist Visa (IDR 8,500,000), Dependent Visa (IDR 15,000,000), Spouse Visa (IDR 20,000,000), Working KITAS (from IDR 20,000,000), Investor KITAS (IDR 30,000,000), Visa on Arrival extension (IDR 1,500,000), Remote Worker KITAS E33G (IDR 20,000,000), and KITAP permanent stay permit (IDR 20,000,000).

A Business Visa (B211A) is a short-term visa for attending meetings, site visits, and market exploration — it does NOT allow working or earning income in Indonesia. A KITAS is a Limited Stay Permit that allows legal residence and work in Indonesia, valid for 1 year (renewable). For work, you need Work KITAS or Investor KITAS.

To work legally in Indonesia: Work KITAS (Index 312) for employees of Indonesian companies (IDR 20,000,000+), Investor KITAS (Index E28A) for PT PMA directors and investors (IDR 30,000,000), or Remote Worker KITAS E33G for digital nomads working for foreign employers (IDR 20,000,000).

The most affordable option is Visa on Arrival (IDR 1,500,000 / USD 95.65) for short visits (30 days, extendable once to 60 days). For longer stays, Business Visa and Tourist Visa are both IDR 8,500,000. Contact InvestinAsia to determine the best visa type for your specific situation.
